Over 150 million years ago, along with the dinosaurs, lived a species of sea turtles. They have managed to survive longer than many other animals from that period. However, only 10% of sea turtles survive to breeding age. Now that humans have come along, only 1% of all sea turtles survive to breed the new generation of baby sea turtles.

• Cover the eggs and leave them
Eggs are white, leathery, size of a ping pong ball.

  • Female sea turtle lays 50-200 eggs on the beach
  • Female lays 1000 eggs in a year
  • 20% don't hatch
  • 50% die on the beach
  • 50% die in water
  • 20 live without human interference
  • 2 survive with human interference
  • they are the size ping pong balls

Paragraph one

An adult sea turtle from the late jurassic period, which was 150 000 000 years ago, climbs up a beach to lay 50 to 200 ping pong sized eggs. First she digs a huge hole, so that she can lay the eggs. Sadly, in theory, 20% don’t hatch.

Sea turtles have lived longer than us. They even lived in the late jurassic. They usually live up to 50 years, or more. The sea turtle still existed

  • the baby sea turtles squirm towards the surface
  • on the way to the water crabs, raccoons, seagulls etc try to eat them
  • the crabs etc claim roughly 50% of the baby sea turtles that rose from the sand
  • the sea turtles make it to the water but now they have fish and seabirds to worry about
  • they seek shelter under flotsam
  • they huddle together in the water in unfortunate weather
Paragraph two

After 6 weeks, 800 leathery eggs hatch. The baby sea turtles are so small, they can fit in the palm of your hand. Then they start to crawl towards the water. Only 50% make it, because of the crabs and birds. Once they’re in the water, their next problem are big fish and whales.

Only 400 make it, because of the crabs and birds. Once they’re in the water, their next problem are big fish. 50% of the sea turtles that make it to the surf perish.

As the sea turtles overcome the fish and whales etc, they have to huddle together because of unfortunate weather

  • The noxious chemicals can suffocate them.
Paragraph Three

As the recently hatched sea turtles slide into the water, new animals are after them. This includes different types of fish, sharks, dolphins and also whales. They are extremely cautious as they swim up to the surface to take a breath of fresh air. After a few months of swimming in the ocean, the sea turtles group together under a slimy patch of seaweed for shelter from their hunters. After a passage of years, the survivors increase their size. Roughly 50% of the sea turtles that made it into the water would perish. After a long time, the sea turtles are old enough to come to the surface to breed. 20% make it to the breeding age without human interference, and only 2 survive to breeding age with human interference.

After a long time, the sea turtles are old enough to come to the surface to breed themselves.

Conclusion
They have been living for as long as 150 million years, since the late jurassic, which is amazing. It was thought to be a long shot, but it’s instead a miracle.
